A 22-year-old final year student of Federal Polytechnic,
Nekede, Owerri West Local Government Area of the state, Onyinyechi Okegbulam of Egbu in
Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State was allegedly murdered by her
boyfriend for refusing his marriage proposal. Many had different sides to the
story, but basically the boy killed the girl with claims that after funding Onyinye
financially, she rejected his marriage proposal and opted to marry another. It was reported that the girl was shot at a
close range in the head by her supposed boyfriend in the village.
